National Ride Network

Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 October 2026

This policy explains what National Ride Network collects about you, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to nationalridenetwork.com and any service we offer through it.

Who we are

National Ride Network ("NRN", "we", "us") operates a membership network connecting cyclists to group rides, routes, races, and partner discounts across US cities. You can reach us any time at support@nationalridenetwork.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Waitlist signup: your email address, and your ZIP code if you choose to provide it. To find the city and state a ZIP code is in, we send only those five digits to a public ZIP-code lookup service.
  • Account: your name, email address, and password when you create an account. If you sign up with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google instead of a password.
  • Membership: billing details are entered directly with our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Groups and rides: group names, event details, invitations, and messages you post.
  • Contact: anything you send us through the contact form or by email.

Information we collect automatically

  • Usage: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referring site, browser and device type.
  • Anonymous visit counter: our own counter keeps a random identifier in your browser (it expires after 90 days) so that one person opening the site several times is counted once. It records which part of the site was used, for how long, and the name of the site you came from. It is not linked to your account, it does not store your IP address, and it is not shared with anyone.
  • Cookies and similar storage: used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure traffic.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run NRN. They process your data on our instructions and for no other purpose:

ProviderWhat it handles
StripePayments and subscription billing
ClerkAccounts and sign-in
NetlifyHosting, form submissions, and stored site data
Google AnalyticsTraffic measurement
PostHogProduct analytics: which pages and features are used
Google Sign-InOptional sign-in, when you choose it

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our members. If NRN is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer with the business; we will tell you before that happens.

Partner discounts

Members receive discounts at partner shops, hotels, and brands. When you follow a link to a partner or redeem an offer, that partner may collect information about you under their own privacy policy, which we do not control. We do not pass your personal information to partners unless you ask us to.

Cookies and analytics

We also use PostHog for product analytics. It records which pages are viewed and which features are used, with an anonymous identifier stored in your browser, your approximate location, and browser details. It does not record what you type, your clicks on the page, or a video of your visit, and it does not create a profile for a visitor who has not signed in.

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It sets cookies and records a truncated IP address. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or block cookies in your browser. Blocking cookies that keep you signed in will stop parts of the members' area working.

Member invite links. If you arrive through a member's invite link, we keep that member's short invite code in your browser for 30 days. When you join the list or become a member, the code is sent with it so the member who shared the link can be credited. It is not used for anything else, and it is not an advertising identifier.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We honor both. If your browser sends either signal, we do not run Google Analytics or PostHog and our own visit counter does not count you.

Local rider profiles

Some city guides feature local riders. A rider's name, photo, video, and favorite routes are published only with that rider's recorded consent. A rider can withdraw consent and have the profile removed at any time by emailing support@nationalridenetwork.com.

How long we keep it

  • Waitlist entries: until we launch in your city and for a reasonable period after, or until you ask us to remove you.
  • Account data: while your account is open, and up to 90 days after you close it.
  • Payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically seven years.
  • Analytics: up to 14 months.
  • Our own visit counter: individual visit detail for 7 days; after that only daily totals, which identify no one.

Your choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Show you the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law.
  • Stop sending you marketing email — every email has an unsubscribe link.

If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the rights above plus the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We do not sell personal information as the CCPA defines it. If you are in the UK or EEA, the UK GDPR and GDPR also give you the right to object to processing, to request a portable copy of your data, and to complain to your data protection authority.

To exercise any of these, email support@nationalridenetwork.com. We will respond within 30 days.

These choices are open to everyone, wherever you live, including residents of states with their own privacy laws (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Texas). If we decline a request, tell us if you want to appeal by replying to our email; if you are still not satisfied you may contact your state attorney general. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are handled by our authentication provider and never stored by us in readable form, and card details are handled entirely by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your information.

Accident Help and your location

When you open Accident Help, we use the approximate location your connection gives us (a state and a rough position, never a street address) to show you a cycling attorney near you. We use it for that one answer. We do not store it, and it is not linked to your account. You can always choose a different state in the box.

Maps

The maps on the site load their map pictures from OpenFreeMap (street maps, built on OpenStreetMap data) and, when you choose Satellite or Hybrid, from Esri (aerial imagery). Those hosts see your IP address and the area you are looking at, as any website that serves a map picture does. The “my location” button on a map asks your browser for your position only when you press it; the position stays in your browser and is not sent to us.

Children

NRN is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and we will tell members by email before any change that materially affects them.
